WELCOME LETTER
Dear Parents,
Hello and welcome to the 8th Grade Core Academy! We are pleased to be your child's teachers for the 2022-2023 school year. We are looking forward to an exciting and successful school year at Peachtree Middle School. We believe in working hard, being responsible people, and being good citizens. We hope to encourage your child in their academics throughout the year. What we've learned over the years of teaching middle grades is that it is very important to have as much parental involvement in your child's education. We also believe that when we all work together, your child will receive the best education possible.
This year will be challenging, yet fun for your child. We have high expectations for every child and believe children will rise to the expectations around them. We want them to be successful, so our expectations are high. We will encourage your student to work hard to meet their potential. In order to maintain consistency, we ask that you expect the same from them at home. We expect all students to use their class time wisely, complete their work on time and turn in all assignments. We allow plenty of time for students to complete class work, and therefore any incomplete work must be completed as additional homework.
Homework is assigned for the week. During the week you should see your child working on Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies assignments. Reading 20 minutes every night is also expected. In 8th Grade, students are no longer "learning to read," but "reading to learn." This becomes very evident as students are expected to read and understand a great deal of non-fiction in the areas of Social Studies and Science.
Our goal, along with the staff at Peachtree Middle School, is to provide your child with a strong, challenging academic experience. We will focus on organization and responsibility skills, which are essential for the future success of your student. In order to do this, your child will need supplies. Attached is a supply list to aid in the success of your child.
Criteria for Team 8A
Must be “Identified” through Infinite Campus
We feel honored for the chance to work with you and your child. The door is always open and we are more than willing to meet with you about any needs or concerns regarding your child. If you need to contact us, you may: send a note, leave a message in the office, call us at 678-676-7702, set up an appointment or e-mail me at [email protected]. Together we can create a partnership, which will benefit your child's success.
Sincerely,
Ms. Robertson
